Antique heart pine from a landmark New York building forms the backdrop for ethically-sourced goods.
There’s nothing more rewarding than working with companies that share our sustainable mission. And Lauren Bush Lauren’s Feed is right in step. Every purchase made at her Brooklyn boutique-coffee shop goes towards buying nutritious meals for those in need around the world. (There’s your excuse to load up on handcrafted accessories and La Colombe lattes.) Her non-profit also places an emphasis on eco-friendly materials, something Provenance feels passionate about.
Located in Empire Stores – a former coffee warehouse on Dumbo’s waterfront – Feed is filled with Provenance’s antique heart pine from top to bottom. Provenance salvaged structural beams directly from the landmark building and planed off the old face, revealing the honey tones and rich grain beneath. The clean resawn surface provides a contrast to the rugged, original beams still standing in the shop.
Each plank of heart pine was milled to exact specifications demonstrating Provenance’s precise manufacturing methods. And you’ll see it everywhere from the floating shelves that hang from thick twists of sisal to the communal table and storage cabinet. While on-site, Provenance’s craftsman built the corner cubbies that showcase the carefully curated inventory and a set of pocket doors leading to the employee area. Custom shiplap clads the exterior and sets the tone for the cafe.
