The tranquil pied-a-terre overlooks Rittenhouse Square, one of Philadelphia’s most picturesque green spaces. With a nod to Belgian minimalism, the space is a study in neutral tones and natural materials. An emphasis was also placed on impeccable craftsmanship and Provenance was called in to provide dimensional lumber made to the client’s exact design specifications.

Because the apartment is located in a high-rise building, a lightweight beam option was a must. Provenance fabricated hand-scraped 18-foot white oak faux beams with meticulous miter lock joints. Matching V-groove oak paneling with a custom finish sits between each rafter. Solid hand-hewn oak beams from an antique barn form the mantle, a focal point of the sitting room. A faux finish was applied to the cut ends to match the patina of the rest of the beam. From wheat-toned oak to time-worn timbers, this home demonstrates how wood lends an inherent richness to even the most sophisticated settings.
