As a hospitality industry veteran, Scott Stein knows a thing or two about a busy restaurant’s demands. With Red Sky, Pearl, and several other successful spots under his belt, the Philadelphia-based restaurateur definitely has a discerning touch. Now he’s creating a buzz with Bardea, a welcoming cafe serving interpretive Italian fare in Wilmington, Delaware’s revitalized downtown area.

Because Bardea can seat up to 300 customers on a bustling weekend night, Stein needed tables that would last for the life of the restaurant. He’d worked with Provenance on a previous project and knew our tables would do just that. To add texture to the airy space, Stein chose to use white pine joists from our extensive inventory. Provenance took it from there, adding steel stretchers for extra strength, applying commercial grade finish, and finishing them off with careful hand-sanding.

The dining room is filled with tables of all sizes including eight-tops that provide plenty of room even when loaded with a smattering of small plates. And when business increased (seriously, who can resist those NYC-meets-Neapolitan-style pizzas?), Stein relied on Provenance’s team to fabricate and deliver with a quick turnaround. Stein says, “These tables only get better with age. They look even more beautiful with time.”
