Our Stanley hardware cabinet once held a mix of jigsaw blades and garden seeds (Detroit dark beets and Kentucky wonder beans, to be exact) in its neat rows of drawers. Large bins with glass panes and sturdy metal handles tilt open beneath.
Provenance acquired this vintage piece from Meeker’s Hardware, a family-owned shop in Danbury Connecticut. Located in a Classic Revival building just outside the city’s Main Street Historic District, it was known for its impressive inventory of tools, gardening supplies, and feed. The store opened in 1885 and was later added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
