The mix of shelves and drawers in our Sid hardware cabinet provide ample storage space. Large drawers that once contained wooden door knobs and screen door hinges sit beneath a row of four cabinets. A yellow yardstick adds a splash of color to the countertop. Sun has bleached the felt-covered doors to a muted green, leaving shadowy traces of hand tools behind. Each cabinet clicks closed with a sturdy metal latch and has adjustable shelving inside.
Provenance acquired this vintage piece from Meeker’s Hardware, a family-owned shop in Danbury Connecticut. Located in a Classic Revival building just outside the city’s Main Street Historic District, it was known for its impressive inventory of tools, gardening supplies, and feed. The store opened in 1885 and was later added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
Need extra space? Pair it with the Ike cabinet, which is an almost identical match.
