Nestled among New Jersey’s coastal dunes, this private residence is home to a trove of salvaged treasures.
Crafted from close-by wonders
For this coastal home, Provenance found materials with a history of harbors, boardwalks and the countryside just beyond. Our team clad the living room ceiling in sinker pine salvaged from the Baltimore Harbor and milled with a profile reminiscent of that found in rural Pennsylvania. For framing, we used grey siding and old face oak reclaimed from barns. Perhaps most poignant, this New Jersey home reuses the Ipe boards once part of the Coney Island Boardwalk. We installed the Ipe using the precision of re-milled tongue and groove, in a manner that maintained the character of its weathered surface. The collective look inspires thoughts of both land and sea, and the treasures found in each.
